The world is undergoing significant change. Two major conflicts are unfolding in Europe and its immediate surroundings: The Russo-Ukrainian War on the one hand and the Hamas-Israel War on the other, ignited by Hamas‘ terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The changes are not only geopolitical; they increasingly affect the domestic politics and social climate of many European countries. Antisemitic sentiments are being more openly expressed.
Against this background, ELNET is conducting the research project the Israel Survey 2024 for the sixth time. This year, Bar-Ilan University, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Royal Elcano Institute, the Turkish Foreign Policy Institute (dpe), Med Israel for fred, the Ireland Israel Alliance, and the New Strategy Center are participating as partners.
This unique research project sheds light on relations between Europe and Israel and provides insights into European Middle East policy. It also examines the political significance of Jewish life in Europe.
Last year, representatives from 17 European parliaments, including the European Parliament, participated in the survey. The goal for this year is to broaden the scope even more by surveying MPs from around 30 European parliaments. Details on the findings of the Israel Survey 2023 can be accessed here.
The results of The Israel Survey will be presented at ELNET’s Europe Middle East Forum in Berlin at the beginning of June. Additionally, they will be published on our website by that time.
Please get in touch with our colleague Francesca Fassbender (ffassbender@elnetwork.eu) if you are a Member of Parliament and would like to get the link to participate in the survey.
